Early Registration is conducted to “ensure all new entrants for Kindergarten and Grade One learners are registered” as well as to “locate, identify, and register” out-of-school children (OSC) and youth (OSY) in the community. – Manila Bulletin
Last January 26, 2019, Saturday, Don Carlos Village Elementary School rolled out a one-day early enrolment for incoming Kinder, Grade 1 and ALS students ahead of the usual summer enlistment. Even incoming ALIVE and SPED pupils are welcome. The Department of Education has declared the day as Early Registration Day for School Year 2019-2020 to ensure the enrolment of the said students in public schools. This was done following the Department of Education’s K to 12 Basic Education Program, in which all 5-year old children are required to study kindergarten.
It was exactly 8 o’clock when the parade started. Members of the drum and lyre band of the Don Carlos Village Elementary School and their mentor headed the parade together with the teachers and other pupils from different grades including the Boy Scouts. After the parade, parents concerned have their children enrolled. Given the prior notice, many of them arrived as early as seven thirty in the morning. There were 53 enrolees in kindergarten and 14 enrolees in ALS listed.
Our school was so lucky to have been visited by one of the DepEd Personnel in the presence of Dr. Nanelyn T. Bontoyan, who was assigned in our area to ensure the conduct of the registration and to give technical assistance. She was delighted to find that the activity was actively participated by the parents. The activity had not been that successful if there wasn’t a full and genuine cooperation shown by the school principal, the teachers, and the parents.
